Friday 56 #2

Image
TGIF, bookwroms! Today's post is inspired by  Freda's Voice. From Girlxoxo: Grab a book, any book, and turn to page 56. Find a sentence that grabs you and post it either on your blog or on Instagram tagged with #Friday56.  This week I've chosen Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Volume 2 by S.Meyer This is a little different than other Friday's, as this is a graphic novel. But I just found this quote beautiful:  "But as time went on, I began to see the monster in my eyes. I couldn't escape the debt of so much human life taken, no matter how justified. And I went back to Carlisle and Esme. They welcomed me back like the prodigal. It was more than I deserved." -Twilight, p. 343 in the normal copy. I'm actually dying to reread the Twilight Saga. I don't know what I'm waiting for... I have to study for my big exams (which I'm barely doing). I will take Sunday off and try to read as many as I can. After I reread them, I'll r

When I First Saw You? #2

Image
Thursday's Book Meme is inspired by  Sailing Through Books. Exert from Girlxoxo:  link up to your post on first impressions of a book cover in the form of a made-up synopsis … so basically judging a book by it’s cover yes. I reviewed this a couple of months ago, you can find it here . When I first saw this book, I thought it was going to be some piece of trash that fills my guilty hunger for paranormal romance. I thought it would be a shallow love story about some Mary Sue girl falling for her vampire. To relate to the cover, I thought there would be some epiphany where they waltz together, like maybe she decides to be a vampire herself. Or they fell in love. Who knows. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read it; but just a forewarning: It may sound cliche, but hot damn. It's one of the sexiest teen romances with such an interesting and well-developed world, you'd be a fool not to read it! (only if you're a fan of the genre, of course).

Library Loot #2

Image
Welcome to Wednesday's Book Meme, inspired by  the Captive Reader , and  Silly Litter Mischief . As I said in my last post , I sadly had to return some library books that I didn't get to even start. Those were Cinder, and the Glittering Court. However, a beauty that I've recently snagged is: Summer Days & Summer Nights (Twelve Stories) by Stephanie Perkins (Editor), Leigh Bardugo, Francesca Lia Block, Libba Bray, Cassandra Clare, Brandy Colbert, Tim Federle, Lev Grossman, Nina LaCour, Veronica Roth , Jon Skovron, Jennifer E. Smith. I can't wait to read this! I'm not really in a contemporary kind of mood right now-- I'm all about the paranormal romance, especially when it has to do with the underworld. But the selling point of this book wasn't the plot-- it was the authors . Steph, Cassie and Roth all in one??? HELL YEAH! I'm going to the library today, all day, to study. Wish me luck. Hopefully I won't get too distracted a

Everneath Review

Image
Everneath by Brodi Ashton 4/5 stars Would've been 5/5 if I hadn't rooted for the wrong guy in the love triangle, damnit. This book all together was a well rounded story! It was captivating and original. There's not much to complain about. However, my only issue is that I think Nikki would be better with Cole. I thought from the beginning that Jack was the boring, safe option. And poor Cole, he can't help how he feels! There's literally destiny binding them together-- and for some reason- that being, that she has ties with a boy who she barely dated for 3 months (only!)- she rejects Cole! Even though choosing him is the far superior and more interesting option! Nikki plays the victim card a lot. But there's literally a flashback she has, where Cole says for the billionth time "Are you sure?" and warns her that there "is not going back" after this, aND SHE AGREEED. Yeah maybe there was some slight emotional manipu

Falling Under Review

Image
Falling Under by Gwen Hayes 3/5 stars It would've been higher if it didn't cause me to go into a reading slump. The story line is so intriguing and I love the idea so much. I just which there was more depth to it, you know?  It was basically the first 20 mins of a movie. It was a lot of fun, I love being introduced to new worlds and characters, but not a lot actually happened. I loved the psychic. She (/he?) was such a star and made the book more... Dimensional? The ending was pretty disappointing. Maybe I'm just used to reading lengthier pieces now, but the ending was practically an introduction to the actual drama taking place. The mother, as well as all the other characters, was written brilliantly. They're fairly cliche if you think about it, but the author manages to tweak them just enough to make them her own. The haunting relationship between Haden and Theia is enchanting. My favourite moment between them?
