I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson My rating: 3 of 5 stars 2.5/5 stars. Yep. People are going to slaughter me for not enjoying this book. I'm sorry. You can read the reasons in my updates… Overall, I'll just list a few things for why I didn't like it: - "art"--> pretentious - author's voice didn't give me enough diversity for it to capture my interest. It felt like a really monotonous narration FOR ME. Pls don't kill me. Pls. - I like books to calm me but the angst in this book made me extremely anxious and I'm sorry but if I'm getting little anxious episodes; I ain't ever gonna love the book. These are all personal reasons so don't look at my review as a guide!! I'm so glad to return this to the library. I'm super disappointed, I find the blurb very misleading… :( View all my reviews

That Summer by Sarah Dessen My rating: 4 of 5 stars 4.5/5 stars. This was my first ever audiobook; and I finished listening to it within 1 day. I speed it up to 1.5x, because I find Americans are quite slow at talking. A few thoughts on the format itself; wonderful speaker, however I'm really confused why everybody but Haven had a bloody southern accent??? She had a more western, Valley accent, which left me in hysterics when I heard every southerner accent. Also, when the speaker read the NY accents, I shed a few tears of laughter, as earlier this year I spent 6 weeks in NYC, and know this accent was priceless. It sounded super Aussie. And that's coming from an Aussie. I think the speaker had a nice drawl for it; but how she pronounced the 'r''s was very Aussie. Okay, review of the plot: Absolutely amazing. Hey guys, I've been hoping to do a bunch of stuff today (transfer blog to Wordpress, read a book, and do some photography). Unfortunately at midnight last night, I woke up with my jaw locked. Which happens. But I never usually wake up from it. I've been in an immense amount of pain for all of the day-- I even caught the bus back to and from (on the way back, I caught the same bus as my brother, who was returning from school-- his face captured priceless embarrassment) the doctors. The doctor ended up giving me some strong pain killer. Woo.  Me, in pain, trying to counteract my TMJ (doctor suggested-- I hate it) BUT HEY! LOOK HOW STRAIGHT MY TEETH LOOK :D TY BRACES.

I just answered this in a poll from Goodreads, and I thought you guys may want to know which Cassie Clare books are my most favourite! Her books have been some of my absolute favourites, and with so many, it's hard to rank them. Needless to say, I enjoy all of them; aside from City of Bones. That book is boring (for me). I Was Here by Gayle Forman My rating: 4 of 5 stars 4/5 stars. I highly recommend this to anybody who enjoys: [bookcover:Thirteen Reasons Why|29844228] or [bookcover:Paper Towns|6442769] Initially picking this up, I felt pissed off. I just read the blurb and came to the realisation this isn't the sequel to [bookcover:If I Stay|4374400]. I got this as a gift from a friend last year, and she said it was the sequel. I shoved it into my pile of books that I was never going to read, because I couldn't stand the movie adaption and didn't bother with the book. But this year, about ago, I read [bookcover:If I Stay|4374400]. It was in my library and I thought, why not? I don't own the first one, only the second one, so I may as well. It was fine bla bla bla I didn't find it profound or anything. But within the first page of this book; I was hooked. It brought me back to, what I like to call, my Reading Renaissance, back in 2014. Night World Volume 3 by L.J. Smith My rating: 2 of 5 stars 1.5/5 stars. Summary: wow this sucks they all suck I read this bc it's one of the last things on my shelf that I haven't read and I've read the other 2 packages. This is the worst in the trilogy. Book 1: 1 star. Book 2: 2 stars. Book 3: 2.5 stars. If anybody wants my copy, I'll gleefully give it away. Waste of time :/ Same plot; different names. Predictable, unnecessary. Such a shame. The title explains itself. I'm always interested in blog communities, and you guys know how much I love Goodread's community. Most of the people I follow use Wordpress, while I use Blogger to host my blog. It's always inconvenient to sign in as a guest on so many people's posts. I love Google. Really, I do. But Blogspot doesn't even have an app anymore. I could transfer all my material over, it's really a matter of whether you guys would follow me over?

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott My rating: 4 of 5 stars 4.5/5 stars. LOVED THIS STORY!!! My only update was: "Beth is my fave. Fave moment (so far): Amy trying to be a lil bitch (as usual) and says samphire instead of vampire. Priceless. Jo's deadpanning keeps me inthralled in this book. This week, I've recently read: Close Liaisons  (The Krinar Chronicles #1)   by   Anna Zaires Twist Me  (Twist Me #1)   by   Anna Zaires   and... The Siren by   Kiera Cass   All the meanwhile I've STILL been currently reading Empire of Storms. THIS BOOK IS TAKING ME WAY TOO LONG TO READ. I'm past half way though! 

Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink My rating: 2 of 5 stars Time for a mini review because... eh. Not bothered. This book isn't worth doing a full review on, I'm sorry. I really want to! Because I read this book for a Blind Reading challenge . But I found it wasn't very interesting. It has a few similarities to Beautiful Creatures in the fantastical family, sister showdown kind of vibe. But it's historical fiction. Was that necessary for the plot? Probably not. I did like the Celtic mythology taking a place in all of the witchery. Would I read on? No. Sorry. Sorry, buddy reader Gav, for making you read this! It wasn't that great, but it met most of the criteria? I guess that's the price then, :/. This was my first assigned reading challenge, I'm not sure if I'd do it again. Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige My rating: 3 of 5 stars Read more bookish goodness on my book blog: Cal's YA Reads 3.75/5 stars. This book was written wonderfully! I loved how well written and developed the world of Oz was; especially the reharacterisation of Dorothy. Absolutely brilliant. It just wasn't one of those plots I'm crazy about. The Raven's Wing by Frances Watts My rating: 4 of 5 stars Read more bookish goodness on my book blog: Cal's YA Reads 4.75/5 stars. I LOOOVED THIS!!! What a cute novel. I didn't think it was at the start, but I was already hooked because Claudia (protag) was sassy as hell and very spirited. She was sooooo enjoyable to read. I honestly was shocked that her and Marcus became a thing. I was so sure that Marcus hated her. Their love story is cliche as cliche Ancient love stories can be; but I still loved it??? This was recommended to me from my fave librarian who runs my YA book club. She was raving about it because of how accurate everything was. And I am pleased too, as the big history head I am. That was very impressive. Bless, Watt. You've written a lovely novel. It only has a fraction of a star taken off because I'm unsure if I'd read it again. And is this a stand alone? Bc I want MORE. I need MORE. PLEASE, WATT, WRITE MORE!!!

Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson My rating: 1 of 5 stars Read more bookish goodness on my book blog: Cal's YA Reads 1.5/5 stars. Yep. That's all. I don't want to review this. I almost DNF at page 244. But I was determined to finish it. This was a bad book. I feel like the whole thing was written by somebody in the 7th grade. It was shite. Basically; Sloane made Emily's life interesting, before she pulled a Margo from Paper Towns and ditched this boring, pathetic excuse for a teen girl. Emily is he worst person I've ever had to read about. She is dull. That is it. She's not even 2 dimensional. She's.... she's........ 1 dimensional. She's the worst. Wishlist Wednesday is where I pick a book off my TBR pile that's really caught my eyes lately, and can't wait to get it on my shelves! So I recently just went through my Goodreads TBR shelf, and ordered it in number of how badly I want to read it. It took hours and hours, re-reading long lost blurbs I have forgotten. But here it is: You can go through all 186 books that I've ranked here . Anyways, even though these are at the top of my pile, I can't wait to purchase Holly Black's The Cruel Prince. I'm really ino the Fae world at the moment, thanks to SJM, and I'd love to finally read something by Holly Black. I have read some of her work that's been with Cassandra Clare, but I'm curious how she is without interference of my other favourite authors.

The Return: Nightfall by L.J. Smith My rating: 4 of 5 stars Read more bookish goodness on my book blog: Cal's YA Reads 3.75/5 stars. This wasn't as good as the previous volume, but it had a lot of Delena so YAY IM HAPPY! But Damon was possessed so technically it wasn't REAL Delena. I'm still accepting it bc I'm desperate. I really don't care for Bonnie or Matt anymore. There was an attempt to have a major subplot about them, but ugghhhhh I don't care. I didn't want to keep up with it. I was just dying for the continuation of Delena. But I can tell Delena isn't end game which sucks (for me). My fave moments; 1. When Damon was possessed and made Matt and Elena do weiiiird stuff oml. 2. When Damon was holding out his arms for Elena (this is such a DID story blurgh) and was willing to die for her (ahhhgg! And yet Elena was like: I miss Stefan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) View all my reviews

To request or not to request: how do you limit ARC requests? Well I usually don't get many, so it's not an issue. But usually I limit myself to 1-2 per month, and they have to be in the genre's a reaaaaaally like. Not a vague book that I may  enjoy-- but something either in YA; romance, paranormal or fantasy. 

Here's the books I've reviewed over the past week, with a mini-summary:  1:  The Thousandth Floor If you like Gossip Girl, you'll love this. But also it's a bit weird (INCESTY). 2: The Mime Order Wasn't as good as the first book, but still a solid 3/5 stars. 3: Spark Just your run-of-the-mill dystopia. Wasn't that great, but wasn't the worst! 4: If I Stay Not worth the read. 5: The Vampire Diaries Books 1 and 2 Book 3 Book 4 OH MY GOD, FREAKING AMAZING.  I BINGED ALL OF THEM IN A DAY. BLESS.

Happy Sunday, bookworms! So I typed this post last Sunday, since the next morning I would have switched my internet to NBN and temporarily was out of wifi for the next 1-2 weeks. I hope I'm still alive. During this week, at least... I hope (since I don't know; I'm writing this in advanced) I read Empire of Storms, Obsidian, and started my pile of library books. Last Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday, I went to the library to study and do some of my winter course for uni. That's a lot of condensed reading and assignments. Ick. I hope you guys have had a good week :D
